The focus of the expedition and workshops in the landscape around the Most Basin is on current changes in the heavily industrialized landscape, especially with regard to the loss of historical continuity, the transfers of geological layers and social structures, and current discussions about the abolition of territorial limits, as well as the potential for further degradation and exploitation of the landscape by extensive open cast mining.
This expedition is based on the idea that it is necessary, both for art and ecology, to consider the interconnections between people and the landscape, with regard to energy resources, animals, plants, history, and the like.
There will be several workshops taking place during the expeditions that the public can join (registration necessary):
8. 9. Old and New Lakes of Mostecko
Terrain lecture about lake Most with hydrobiologist RNDr. Ivo Přikryl.
12.9. – 13.9. Lignite Clouds
The two-day sound workshop with Peter Cusack will focus on the sound environments around the brown coal industry in Most Basin (North Bohemia).
12. - 13. 9. Recollection of Jezeří/Eisenberg Arboretum
An improvised workshop with Miloš Šejn, inspired by the environment of the castle at Jezeří, and especially its former arboretum, consisting of the vast Eisenberg park, which is located between the castle and the former village of Albrechtice.
19. 9. Václav Cílek: Sacred Landscape (Transformation of matter)
Václav Cílek will provide his commentary on the relationships between the ancient and current situation in the landscape of Ore Mountains, together with a walk to an ancient sanctuary which is an archeological site in the hills near the Chateau Jezeří.
20. 9. Altered Landscape, Life and Memory
A walk from Osek to the sites of vanished villages of Libkovice and Hrdlovka with the art historian Radoslava Schmelzova, archeologist Petr Meduna and botanist Jiří Sádlo.
