In light of Prague Improvisation Orchesta’s upcoming performances in Prague and Pardubice, we’re delighted to dedicate our November playlist to the work of the group’s co-founder and director, George Cremaschi.
Cremaschi, born in New York, founded PIO with
Petr Vrba in 2012. The 15-member group works with conducted and open scores, free improvisation, and graphic notation. The Agosto Foundation is pleased to support the group’s performances through the end of 2015.
Cremaschi’s other projects include KRK (with Matthew Ostrowski), Rohr Rohr (with dieb13 and Gino Robair) and Lambs Gamble (with Fritz Welch and Eric Boros), all of which can be heard below. Many more recordings and videos are available on Cremaschi’s website,
georgecremaschi.com.
“This is a varied set of recordings which reflect much of my main activity over the last half dozen years: focused small groups, electro-acoustic composition, solo contrabass, and new approaches to sound organization with large semi-autonomous groups.”
George Cremaschi
