Michael Fernandes (b. 1944, Trinidad) is a Canadian experimental artist and art educator based in Halifax, whose practice combines linguistic and performance events catalyzed by humor. Through public interventions and text-based installations, Fernandes creates social situations that actively solicit viewer participation. His work explores the intersection of private life with public space and the relationship between art and everyday life. Michael Fernandes is an instructor in Intermedia at NSCAD University, and has exhibited and performed throughout Canada and internationally.
