For the elites or the masses? – the types, goals, and mechanisms of exhibitions. / The 19th-century exhibition space – shop or theatre, salon or Parnassus? / Who pays for it all – the state, the guilds, benefactors, or the general public? / The reception and appreciation of works by the public – majestic, beautiful, tasteful, amusing, shocking, ... ? / A comparison of Czech exhibition standards with England, France, and Germany. How do we exhibit the art of the 19th century today?

Emergent Places is a year-long lecture series that maps out the transformation of exhibitions in Bohemia from the 19th century up until today. An invitation to hear from and discuss with well-known art historians, curators, critics, and artists.
