GUBA – Celebrate Christmas in a Hungarian way, with the screening of Hungarian animated short films, and traditional Christmas sweets ’mákos guba’
"This film is not more than one painting in motion. The colours are permanently searching for the harmony, which can define artistic thought most precisely." – György Kovásznai’s notion about his own film can be a motto for selecting films.
This collection of animations tries to represent a tendency in the Hungarian contemporary scene inbetween film and painting, stills and moving images, stationary and temporal arts.
The authors presented here, are from different generations. Chronologically the first film was made in the sixties, the last one was produced two years ago. The spectrum of techniques, like the different contents, are very broad. What brings them all together under the christmas tree is the reflection on the still image, on certain artpieces, or just on the medium of painting itself.
