Morgain Craig graduated in 2003 from the Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia, PA, specializing in painting. He has exhibited in the US since 1996, most recently with a solo exhibit of his work at the City Arts Center in Oklahoma City.
His large-format, realistic paintings glorify the neglected and derelict remains of the industrial era: quiet steel mills, asbestos plants, out-of-service electrical plants and abandoned hotels. Exhibits of his canvases include sound recordings. During his residency, Craig will work with materials collected in the field (sketches, photographs, sound) from one of the largest steel mills in the northeastern United States, as well as seeking out comparable materials from places in the Czech Republic.
