Heera Kim

Heera Kim is a Korean composer who has produced a range of orchestra, chamber ensemble and vocal music including electronic music.
She studied composition and music theory in Kyung-Hee university in Seoul, afterwards with Prof. York Hoeller (Komposition) and Prof. Hans Ulrich Humpert (electronic composition) at College of Music, Cologne, Germany.
She was winner of "Forum Ost & West Prize" (2001), composition competition of ensemble for new music Zurich (2007), "Walter Witte Preis" (2006), "BMW composition prize" of Musica Viva in Munich (2007).
She has been awarded a scholarship "Stipendium des Freundeskresises Karlsruhe" (2008) and participated Workshops among other Young Composer Meeting (2006) in Apeldoorn, Holland and darmstaedter Ferienkurse (2006), Germany.
She is currently studying composition with Dr.H.C. Prof. Wolfgang Rihm and music theory with Michael Reudenbach at College of Music Karlsruhe, Germany.
Heera Kim is the Open Studios UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries Laureate for 2009.
