Igor and Ivan Buharovs are visiting Prague again. You can look forward to a Czech premiere of their new feature movie Most of the Souls that Live Here and for the concert of their legendary band Gentry Sultan.
Movie Most of the Souls That Live Here, which got many positive reviews in Hungary, is about he renowned anarchist teacher Count Ervin Batthyány. He reappears 100 years after his death and tries to put his theories into practice again, as he realises that the world has not turned out as he'd expected. There is no Utopia, free of rulers. He founds a new free school with the help of some like-minded people, and starts teaching a new generation who believe in solidarity and cooperation, rather than a system of oppression. But the ideal of freedom and equality awakens the same fears in the choreographers of power as it did 100 years ago. And after an encouraging start the count and his friends come up against more and more obstacles. Film is with English subtitles.
The movie follows the concert of multi-genre band Gentry Sultan. The music mixes archaic Moldovan melodies, Latin rhythms, elements of the modern free-jazz and of contemporary compositions.
Kornél Szilágyi and Nándor Hevesi work together under the pseudonym Igor & Ivan Buharov already from 1995. They have been producing and directing several usually 8mm and 16mm movies but also animations and documentaries. They have also been involved in the creation of several music projects and film music. Their work is always dancing on the edge of fine art and cinematic art. In 1995, together with Vasile Croat and István Nyolczas, they have formed the 40 Labor “Multiartist” Group which made performances, events, actions, exhibitions, concerts, multimedia works.
They formed the Pop Ivan band in Budapest in 1998. Music is characterised by a certain permeability between styles and atmospheres. At their performances they frequently use visual effects: the audience can watch super 8 or/and 16 mm films parallel to listening to the music of Pop Ivan. Since 2000 they have been giving concerts in Europe, have played in Belgium, France, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria the Czech Republic, Italy, Russia, and Georgia.
