Virág Bogyó

Resident Artist
1.8.31.10.

Virág Bogyó lives and works in Budapest. She studies graphic and media design at Moholy - Nagy University of Art and Design. Virág started cooperate with Csilla Hódi in 2010, when they founded „ P.R. group “. P.R. group is a collective of young artists. Its two founding members, Virág Bogyó and Csilla Hódi, first met in an Eastern Hungarian constructivist popular educational gathering, led by a former student of Lajos Kassák. "Nevertheless, with each of its works and actions, the group expands to engage more people, and the P.R. monogram is likewise adjusted, “context-specifically,” to each project. In the course of its work, the P.R. group addresses current social issues, discourses, and cultural traditions: with its humorous, ironic, and awareness raising actions, the group intervenes into the public space, or offers amusing solutions to it." (Eszter Szakács).
In their residential project „Fair-y-count store“ they will realise an egalitarian, utopist micro-economical structure: a transnational welfare based business situated in the touristic area on the Vltava riverbank. The prices in the shop will differ according to the nationality of the customers. The base will be the Czech average price which would be multiplied by the ratio of the average wage of the residential country of the actual customer and that one of the Czech. The gallery space will provide the sensual intermediation of the bookkeeping of this socio-economical research as well as learning-by-doing workshops for the collective exploration of various extra-capitalist fields.

Virág Bogyó is supported by Visegrad Artist Residency Program - Visual&Sound Arts. visegradfund.org/residencies/varp
