Ukamau

Ukamau is bari-core project of armenian musician living in Prague. The fundamental musical core "ukamau" are traditional rhytms of aymara music performed by baritone saxophone (bari) and white noise, repeated by bass synth. Music is accompanied by flickering and stroboscopical projection of Alexandra Morales based on theme of Altiplana legends and stories.

Georgij Bagdasarov was born in Kazakhstan into an Armenian family. He initially studied Cybernetics at the Moscow Technical University, then continued with Composition at the Moscow Music Academy and finally graduated from the Film School in Saint Petersburg. He started his music career as a guitarist in a psychedelic punk band and discovered the world of free improvisation via conceptual techno. He plays saxophones, turntables, a guitar prepared with found objects and other instruments. He has recorded and performed in collaborations with a wide variety of artists from the fields of jazz, noise, electronica and many other music genres including Richard Deutsch, Jerome Noetinger, Yoshio Mashida, Les Halmes, Dill, Yutaka Makino, DJ Sniff, Nikolay Rubanov, Fitz Ellarald and other.
