Andreas Wagner (b. Opladen, 1962) studied at the Hochschule für Musik and Tanz Cologne with Professor Johannes Fritsch and took private lessons in composition with Carlo Inderhees in Cologne. He has been working with various ensembles as a saxophonist and clarinetist in free improvised music and new music since 1987.
Wagner’s compositions range from precisely notated music — solo to orchestral and electronics — to open forms (fractal 1-8). He often searches for ways to bridge the performance space to the audience. Wagner is not only a member of various improvisation groups, but also works with video, sound sculpture and visual arts. He is a Cologne-based freelance musician, composer, and visual artist.
