opening act: Oldřich Janota
"Between the words" is the gallery presentation of the personal archive of "doodles", by Jiří Janda, who collects them since 1997. He started with the "secret" aquisitions of sketches around the home telephone in the flats of his friends. Later he developed more sofisticated methods. His archive contains now several hunders of doodles of wide range of people, by various age and profession.
Janda's collection is specific contribution towards the discussion about contemporary profesional art, contradicted to the qualities of intuitive drawing of this sort. Janda appropriates further some of doodles, translating them into videoprojection, into concrete objects, or glass sculpture for public space commisions. He is not interested in the psychological investigation of the drawings, but considers them as a aesthetic artefact of its own.
