Školská 28 is pleased to announce a new improvised collaboration between visiting Canadian sound artist Jamie Drouin and Czech media artist Dušan Urbanec.
Jamie Drouin examines the sonic palette of electrical noise pollution and the positioning of these sounds within new music frameworks. Through improvised performances working with a suitcase of electronics, Drouin creates intricately detailed compositions which seek to transform audience perceptions of familiar habitats, and to find new ways of relating to the auditory artifacts of contemporary life.
Drouin's work has been featured at several International venues, including recently at the Biennial of the Americas (Denver), Mutek (Montreal), TodaysArt (The Hague), and Henry Art Gallery (Seattle). He has also been the recipient of grants from both the Canada Council for the Arts and the BC Arts Council to produce large-scale installations investigating unique sonic environments.
Dušan Urbanec is a media artist and VJ. He graduated from FAVU at Keiko Sei class, and has made numerous interactive video projects since the 1990s. His aesthetics of minimalism are often engaged with various sound and interactive inputs. He is a current member of the groups Opuka and Moire.
