Saša Spačal

presentation – concert
Center for Architectural Heritage Plasy

Saša Spačal’s work focuses primarily on the posthuman period, in which human beings exist and act as one of many elements in the ecosystem, though not as sovereigns. She therefore abandons a cartesian mindset with the acceptance of the fact that technology has expanded not only from hardware to software, but also now includes wetware, resulting in hybrid phenomena that are inscribed in mechanical, digital and organic logic.

In collaboration with various arts organizations, such as the Kapelica Gallery, the Multimedia Center Kibla and Ljudmila – Art and Science Laboratory, Spačal is develops media installations and other interfaces by connecting technological and biological organisms. In her interactive visualizations and sound designs, as As a member of Theremidi Orchestra, Spačal creates physical interfaces for generating sound and visuals.

Saša Spačal lives and works in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She has exhibited and performed at venues and festivals such as Ars Electronica Festival, Prix Cube Exhibition, Transmediale Festival, Onassis Cultural Center Athens, Eyebeam, Cynetart Festival, National Art Museum of China, Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova – MSUM+, Kapelica Gallery, Pixelache festival, Device_art, Art Laboratory Berlin, Kiblix Festival, Gallery of Contemporary Art Celje, Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina, and the Lisboa Soa festival. For her work she was awarded the Prix Ars Electronica Honorary Mention 2015 and nominated for Prix Cube 2016.
