Gerrit de Ruijter (born 1954 in Nieuwer-Amstel, NE, died September, 2022) was a photographer living and working in Amsterdam. He studied visual art (1978-1982) at the Department of Photography at The Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. Since 1982 he has been focusing mostly on street and music photography (working for journals such as Oor, Vinyl, Wire, etc.). His works are in collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris (selected by Mr. Lemagny), Musée de Photography in Fribourg, FOMU in Antwerp, and in various private collections. Gert de Ruijter participated in several Plasy symposia as a guest and as a photographic documentarist.
