Mojmír Horyna: Lecture on J. B. Santini

In his lecture, Prof. Horyna explained Santini's work in the context of Baroque art and architecture.


Mojmír Horyna (1945-2011) was an art historian. He studied Art History at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague and Graz. He specialized in the Baroque period and the art of the 19th century, as well as in architectural development of Prague, including the preservation of cultural heritage. Mojmír Horyna published many studies in professional magazines or proceedings, he was a co-editor of several significant anthologies and was involved in several exhibitions on the Czech Baroque.

Professor Horyna was considered as an excellent specialist on the oeuvre of J. B. Santini-Aichel. Thanks to his efforts, the pilgrimage complex in Mariánská Týnice monastery achieved new glory, together with  Santini's pilgrimage church of Saint Jan Nepomucký, located on the Green Mountain near Žďár nad Sázavou.
