The Agosto Foundation’s Artist-in-Residency Research and Development program promotes sustainable cultural and social development by means of collaboration with existing local organizations, initiatives, and collectives

Agosto Foundation Summer Residency Documentary from Agosto Foundation.

Overview

In its most basic form, it provides an individual with a fully equipped apartment in the center of Prague for use during the development or implementation of a specified project. The program is open to each resident for a duration of one to three months.

Visual, sound, theatre, and multimedia artists, as well as academics, researchers, designers, engineers, technologists, anthropologists, educators, or any other professionals (hereafter referred to as “artists”) engaged in creative, interdisciplinary, or exploratory cultural projects may be awarded a residency.

At this time, each Agosto Foundation residency is awarded to an artist in conjunction with another institution. This is the initiative, organization, or collective (hereafter, the “partner institution”) that is responsible for applying for the residency on behalf of the artist.

Support

Artists-in-Residence will be provided accommodation in a fully equipped apartment in Prague (see details below). Other funds to be used for the implementation of the artist’s project may be granted at the request of his or her partner institution. All additional requirements beyond the accommodation should be stipulated in the application in order to be taken into account during the selection process.

Please note that the Agosto Foundation will request a final report on the residency from the partner institution and the artist.

The 85-square-meter apartment is located on Vojtěšská street in downtown Prague, near the Vltava river. It is partitioned with a bedroom and a living/dining room, fully equipped kitchen area, and private office (including a free wifi network, printer, scanner, computer, refrigerator, and washing machine).

Eligibility

Partner institutions both within the Czech Republic and abroad are invited to apply for the residency on behalf of the artist. The artist must be able to communicate in {either} English or Czech, the working languages of the residency program.

It is expected that the artist will use the Agosto Foundation’s Artist-in-Residency apartment during the implementation of his or her project.

The Foundation encourages and welcomes the participation of artists from all backgrounds and does not discriminate with regard to age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, marital status, or nation of origin in its application process.
