Bart Society

The Bart association has its headquarters in the historical town of Úterý, which is nestled in the picturesque valley of Úterý brook. Up until the end of World War II, the former medieval market town used to be predominantly inhabited by a German population, and now has a total population of 300 – half of which are “tourists” from Prague and Pilsen on recreation. The first course of action for the association was to repair the organ in the Church of St. John the Baptist, and they subsequently organized organ Master classes. From the original six members, the association has grown to a base of twenty individuals. In 2016, the association bought a decrepit house under cultural protection which stands right on Úterý’s square. It is the House on the Corner, otherwise called the ‘Turbovna,’ where they plan to open a community center with a café, a historical exhibition and an information center. Bart closely cooperates with the organizations Domaslav and Martinus.
