In 2000, the local cultural association Johan breathed new life into the former, and now long-abandoned, railway station of Plzeň-Jižní předměstí. Thanks to their successful, multi-genre program focused especially on drama and contemporary dance, the organizers succeeded in getting a long-term lease on the building from Czech Railways, and have since started operating their open communication space called Moving Station. The former art-nouveau train station has gradually been renovated and has become an important cultural center for the town of Pilsen and its environs. Currently, it has turned into a multi-functional space for alternative culture which presents theater performances, interventions, concerts and exhibitions, as well as other events which draw the attention of both local and international audiences.
