Artmill

Not far from the western-Bohemian town of Horažďovice lies the ArtMill – a project which operates in a former mill founded by American artist, curator and pedagogue Barbara Benish. Artmill’s internationally profiled program consists of a wide range of activities, from children’s camps, to organizing exhibitions for the Califia Gallery (2007 – 2014) in Horažďovice, creative residencies and workshops (Bohemian workshops), as well as offering university-level programs for foreign institutions or specific projects undertaken with the local community. The ArtMill’s philosophy focuses on fostering artistic dialogue, sustainable creativity (Center for Sustainable Creativity), social change and ecology.

The ArtMill’s activities are formally supported by the non-profit organization Art Dialogue, which also participated in the UN’s Safe Planet campaign, which aimed to raise public awareness about dangerous chemicals and waste. The ArtMill’s organic planning makes especially the summer months full of activity.
