Lea Vene - lecture
Industrial Heritage in the Sphere of Cultural Production
Case study: Croatia Lecture by Lea Vene 9 April 2018, 6 PM at Artmap Bookstore
In 2010, textile workers of Kamensko went on strike in the city centre of Zagreb. It was one of the rare cases where textile workers occupied the public space and were supported by many civil organizations, attracting a great deal of media and public attention. Despite the community pressure, the factory was closed down, leaving the textile workers on the street without ensuring them previously earned salaries.

Future of the Past
Macedonia’s Contemporary Political Art Lecture by Elena Veljanovska 6 March 2018, 7PM at Tranzitdisplay
As in a few other European countries in recent years, politics in Macedonia have been carried out on the visual and symbolic plane. Making their political visions visible in public was one of the highest priorities to the former, nationalistic government, which extensively rebuilt public space, covering it with historicized sculptures, monuments and new decorative buildings, and striving to reframe Macedonian history and creating a new memory.

Kavárny Naživo Brings Art to the Cafés of Europe
With the smell of coffee and, in former times, tobacco, wafting in the air, the hustle and bustle of voices and the clinking of cutlery and tableware, the café scene has always been somewhat of a hub for European cultural life.

PRAHA v Brně Brno
PRAHA v Brně is not simply one of Brno’s many pleasant cafes, it’s also a bustling venue for lectures, film screenings, and concerts. The space, which lies at the end of the courtyard of the Moravian Gallery, once served as a restoration workshop, as evidenced by the still-extant fluorescent tubes under which restorers worked.

The Bioacoustics of Ants
Kuai Shen
My interdisciplinary artistic research is inspired by ants, by their social mimesis, social resilience and social metamorphosis, by their being and becoming with others. Ants are symbionts in relation to their ecosystem, in the sense that they participate in mutual and parasitic couplings with the environment, hosting other organisms and creating opportunities for the emergence of new social encounters.

Bart Society Enlivens the Local Scene
Úterý
We met with Tomáš Kaiser, the director of the Bart Society, in early October at the 15th annual Apple Festival, which took place in the Pilsen region directly on the summit and slope of Krasíkov hill. The event could be seen from far away, as the slope of the hill (which, just beyond the trees, is graced with some beautiful castle ruins) was speckled with parked cars — this year a few thousand visitors came to the event. Directly below the castle, the Bart association was running a benefit kiosk selling pastries and coffee, whose earnings would go to support the society’s activities.
