For several years the unassuming address at Školská 28 has kept something hidden from street view: four separate but related art spaces: the Školská 28 and Fotograf Galleries, the ArtMap office, and Antonín Tomašek’s ceramics workshop.

The collective jam sessions by Black Market were not reflected as *improvisations* but rather as the *art of en-countering*, as the *art of weaving a network* where the participants act in mutual inter-action, right in the present, right here, right now — see Martin Buber’s motto: “Encountering does not happen in time and space; time and space belong to encountering…”.

The 2016 vs. Interpretation Festival took place from 27 April to 1 May at Studio Alta, Veletržní Palác, the Old Bubeneč Wastewater Treatment Plant, Alfred ve Dvoře Theatre, Insitute Intermedia, Center for Contemporary Arts and more.

Second iteration of the vs. Interpretation Festival runs from 27 April – 1 May at various venues in Prague.

The Agosto Foundation is pleased to announce its support of “Dreaming in Sound,” a performance and workshop by American composer and electroacoustic violist Martha Mooke.

Echoing the telecommunications wires circling the globe, the cables of suspension and stay-cabled bridges reverberate with unexpected sounds, each structure creating a unique texture, rhythm and sonic environment.

Considerable attention in the program of this year’s vs. Interpretation Festival will be devoted to the Lebanese free improvisation scene, which has been steadily on the rise ever since the first freely improvised concert in the Middle East in 2000.

Now in its second iteration, vs. Interpretation is a festival of adventurous art, part of an ongoing transdisciplinary project promoting innovative improvised artistic projects and research. This year's festival will continue to focus on sound improvisation and offer performances, discussions, and workshops on the subjects of movement, sound art, film, visual art, and new concepts in music composition.

vs. Interpretation: An Anthology of Improvisation, vol. 1 is a compendium of essays edited by David Rothenberg. It is the first publication by the Agosto Foundation.
