Mobile Soundscapes
Workshop: An introduction to live streaming with open microphones Prague College – Bishop’s Court 9 October, 5 PM admission free
The idea for this workshop is to use LocusCast, an app that streams to our Icecast server from mobile phones, as a basis for a group performance. The working principle is to consider the paths taken by several different “streamers” as complementary sound tracks or as a score, and to remix and spatialize the streams live in an auditorium.

Futurist Week
22 – 30 November 2017 Invoking the memory of Italy’s noise engineers Italian Cultural Institute, NG Trade Fair Palace
More than a century ago, Italy witnessed something that would forever change art and its forms of expression. In 1913, the Futurist painter Luigi Russolo published his manifesto L’arte dei Rumori (The Art of Noises) in response to Francesco Balilla Pratella’s Manifesto dei musicisti futuristi (Manifesto of Futurist Musicians), encompassing fundamental ideas for the new music of the modern age.

Strakonice
Making Your City Your Own
Let’s Revive Strakonice Strakonice
Upon arriving in Strakonice, the South Bohemian town’s impression is a modest one. Although settled in the latter half of the 12th century, and boasting a moated castle on the Otava River built shortly thereafter, the large-scale urban reconstruction of the 1970s demolished many of the historical buildings that had given Strakonice the fairy-tale quality typical of many old Czech towns.

Viral Ecologies
Kuai Shen
Artist Residency
Kuai Shen is a naturalist and media artist who has been loving and studying ants for over 16 years. His hybrid installations explore the interspecies relationships in the natural/artificial continuum, inspired on one hand by the emergence and self-organization of ants, and on the other, by the subjective intertwining of parasites, microorganisms and viruses in relation to mimicry, affects, and the forces of becoming.

Hans van Koolwijk
Hans van Koolwijk
Profile
by Petr Slabý Dutch artist Hans van Koolwijk (1952) doesn’t call himself a musician, but rather a sound artist working with sound like a sculptor does with stone or clay. Koolwijk studied the fine arts, and his musical instruments are in themselves art objects.
